More Conversations with Soren

I have about a billion pictures to post... Christmas, New Years, our trip to Arizona and San Diego, Keiton 9 months old, Other various... and maybe someday I'll get to them. We're having computer issues with the computer that we download the photos too. Someday it'll be up and running again like it should.

A couple of recent conversations with Soren though should make an interesting read.

The other night at dinner he invited us all to join him at college. Here's how the conversation went:

Me: What college are you going to go to?

Soren: I'm going to go to college like Steve (Blue's Clues) and learn to sing.

Me: That's great. You're going to sing at college, huh?

Soren: Yes, (turning to Layth), Daddy, do you want to go to college with me?

Layth: I've already been to college, Soren

Soren: Oh, you can come to college with me. And mommy can come. And Keiton can come. We'll all go to college together.

Isn't that sweet? I'm going to remind him when he's 18. I think I'll join him at college for a short while; just to fulfill his childhood dream of having his family there with him.

And, he has officially decided what he wants to be and do when he grows up. This is a different conversation. This is all on his own, every detail, the mention of college first (we weren't talking about it at all), we haven't talked about this subject or seen videos or anything in months.

Me: Soren, what do you want to be when you grow up?

Soren: After college I want to go to the Marching Band

Me: You want to be in a Marching Band?

Soren: Yes, and I'm going to wear drums around my neck and march.

Me: So, you're going to play drums in the Marching Band?

Soren: Yes, and I will need a new shirt; a Blue shirt.

Me: A blue shirt?

Soren: Yes. And I am going to march all the way home.

He went on to say that the following people are going to be in his marching band playing the following instruments:

Benton: the saxaphone
Keiton: the french horn
Nika: the guitar
Me: the piano
Layth: the trumpet
and someone was going to play the cymbals, but I can't remember who.

He has obviously thought about this in great detail because he knows the drums are going to be around his neck and to be in this particular marching band he will need a BLUE shirt.

I was ecstatic. Layth didn't really know what to think.

That's about it. I need to start recording his prayers every night because they are so sweet and he comes up with the craziest things...

He is a joy.

Looks like Soren's first music lesson is having a lasting impact on his future plans. Uncle Vance would be so proud.

I sure like reading about Soren's ambitions in music. I am a music therapist so this post topic is close to my heart. Your little ones are growing up and mine will be making an appearance quite soon. (The sooner the better for this pregnant mom.) It's already starting to get a little tight in there. What a miracle children are. God is so good.
God Bless you all,
Heather (and Scott)
