I think I Finally get it... I'm not supposed to run a 1/2 marathon at this point in my life.
I had not yet registered for the 1/2 this weekend because you can register up to the morning of the race, I'd already missed the free t-shirt deadline and so there was no real incentive to registering early. I decided this morning that I should register now though just so that it would save me time the morning of race day. I went online to register and here's what I found:
"Sorry: Sorry Girlfriends, we are full! Being our first year, we never imagined we would reach 400 participants! Registration is closed so we can provide the type of experience we envisioned. Please come back next year. Thanks for your interest!"
A newspaper article dated Tuesday, October 16th indicated that it was full at that time, so at least I didn't miss it by like one day, or a few hours or something like that. It was several days.
Still, I'm devastated and extremely disappointed. There are no other 1/2's to run anytime soon anywhere near here so I guess I'll have to put the whole thing on hold.
I kind of wish now that I'd figured out I wasn't supposed to run when my achilles tendon went out on me a couple of months ago. This has been a roller-coaster ride.
Time to get off the coaster for now.

I was so sad for you. But sounds like you had a great weekend with your mom.
