Camping Trip

We had a fabulous 4-daycamping trip last weekend with 3 other families, the Bowmans, the Lundes and the Wests. There were 8 kids... the oldest was 3 1/2, so it made for some interesting times, but we still managed to take a 14 mile round trip bike-ride into town and back for brunch (it was supposed to be breakfast, but it takes a while to get that many kids up and ready and get all the bike tralers hooked up, so it ended up being brunch!), we spent an afternoon at the lake, I got my run in, and we made lots of tonka toaster desserts. This is the 3rd year we've done it and I'm looking forward to next year already. Once I get out camping I always want to stay... I really do enjoy it.

Here we are in town. After brunch we headed to a park for a couple of hours so the kids could play. This is just as we're getting ready for the 7 mile trek back to the campsite. There are actually a total of 5 trailers to haul all the kids, even though you can basically only see one of them.

Soren and Nika picking flowers

The "big" kids picking flowers at the campsite. I was the recipient of some of them!

Soren in the hammock with Benton singing. "Uncle" Vance kept them very entertained as well by playing every kids song in the book on his guitar. The kids loved it. Somehow Soren though came away with a new version of B-I-N-G-O that goes like this: "there was a farmer had a gun and Bingo was his name-o". Not sure where the "gun" came from, but he sure thinks that's the way the song is sung.

I loved the conversation Ben and Soren were having in that photo:
Ben: It's a swing
Soren:No. It's a hammock
Ben: Swing
Soren: Hammock.....

That was so much fun. I am with you Betsy, once we are there, it is so hard to leave. Some day I will actually get some pictures posted from the trip. It was so much easier to keep the blog updated when I wasn't working.
